Does anyone know when the custom shop quit offering partially serrated blades for the 110?

Well, duhh! :foot: I just answered my own question by going and looking at the custom shop blade options. Any blade is available with serrations even now, but I'd forgotton about that.

yes when will the 112 be available again?

When enough Girl Scouts ask for them. :D

LOL I didn't say I'd have all the answers. But here is my question:

When will the CKS offer the Vantage in different wood, horn & antler options and mirror polished 420HC (or S30V), black oxide, chip flint, damascus, etc blade options?

I wish I had the fever when you could order whatever you had a hankerin for, I can think of a myriad of desires:thumbup:

Yeah, and while I'm asking, how about animal cut-out options for the Vantage customs blades (Including a wolf, a coyote and a fox cut-out option)? :)

I am sorry... I know some folks like partial saw blades on their knives... but... on a custom 110 - it just doesn't even sound right. I can't envision it, lest I strain my mind's eye. The horror!

Of course, "You pays your money... ". It's great to have the choice!

I don't disagree at all. I wouldn't have ordered one with that blade. Since I have custom shop knives with most all the other blade configurations I decided to go ahead and buy a pre-owned one with the serrations just because I didn't have one. Looking back, maybe I should have ordered a new one from Buck just to give them the business.

Two uses where I can see a real advantage to serrated or combo blades (aside from cutting bread):

If you are a climber and need to be able to cut nylon rope.

If you are a commercial fisherman, a combo blade to cut lines, netting, rope, etc.

But since I am neither...

... however I do have a web special combo 110 with an Idaho tang stamp. It's my only combo blade. I just keep it in my drawer for decoration:)

The "110" format Selector had as one option a half-serrated clip point blade. It is one of the harder Selector blades to find.

I dont want to bash semi-serates, but I dont like the looks of them and I'd never be able to sharpen it:o

I really like fully and partially serrated blades . They have many uses, I've used them to prune fruit trees, cut large weeds and tough bunch grasses like bear grass and sacaton . Deer tendons, rope from hay bales a shooting lane at a call stand, whittle a hickory axe handle to fit the head as that wood is very hard and serrations cut it well . There are many more items I've cut with them . Plus, with the right sharpener they are easier to sharpen that a plain edge . Now, on the appearance-- I'll concede that point . DM

Love the girl scouts comment! LOL. I have a custom shop question.....Anyone have any experience with ordering a custom shop knife around holiday time? Do they tend to take longer to get them out to you?? Just wondering cuz I know what I want for Christmas.

Some people on this forum did order for Christmas last year. I think Buck anticipates this and gears up for it. As far as I know it still takes 4-6 weeks.

It's an interesting question because I'm considering the same thing: Do I order in a couple weeks when the rush is on or do I wait until Jan. - Feb. when the pace slows down? Does it make a difference? This is a good question for someone at Buck.
