Howdy Y'all!

I just posted this over in Community, but thought it warranted special mention here: :)

We are looking forward to deploying/employing the Kustom Knuptial Kake Kutter at one or more receptions on as-yet undecided dates and locations. We will eagerly honor our pledge to provide pictures. Thank you all again for the awesome -and distinctive- wedding present. :D

BTW- For those of you interested, (or even casually curious) we just concluded our first weekend session of "Pet Acclimatization Therapy" and it went rather well. I'll let Kathy post details of it though.

Congratulations!! So what was the reason for remembering the date???? :footinmou

MamaV- shappa nailed it. I used a similarly un-romantic mnemonic to remember the room she wants us to reserve the next time we visit the General Lewis Inn- #223. What can I say? I used to work in a gun shop. :p

Dan- although I have never been there, I am told that Gatlinburg is in Tennessee. Apparently, lots of people go there- quite a few of them to get married. I understand a more wholesome version of Las Vegas' "chapel industry" thrives in the vicinity. ;)

Bryan! "Las Vegas chapel industry"... talk about "unromantic"! :p ;)

Actually, my sister suggested Gatlinburg would be a good place for an intimate ceremony. Gatlinburg is kind of a touristy town, but it's laid-back and nestled in the beauty of the Smoky Mountains. We're planning an autumn creekside (or at least outdoor) ceremony in a more secluded spot further up in the mountains and away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist destinations. I've been there a few times, but it's been years and I'm looking forward to showing Bryan around the place. Who knows? Maybe the bride and groom will leave for their honeymoon on horseback? :D

On to the "Great Pet Challenge"... I'll copy&paste an excerpt from an e-mail I sent to a friend earlier today. It pretty much sums our little experiment...

Bryan was here this weekend to introduce his adorable mixed breed german shepherd/husky/wolf(?) Code to my sweet little kitty Wendy. It was... interesting! We are taking things slowly, so basically Code (pronounced "Cody") stayed behind either a screen door (which separates the kitchen from a utility room) or baby gate (separating the kitchen from the dining room), curious and wanting to play, while Wendy puffed up her black fur, growled (yes, growled!) and assumed the classic arched-back Halloween cat posture! It was funny, but good, because actually things went much better than we expected. They both calmed down after a while and Code actually seemed to lose interest in Wendy, while Wendy relaxed enough to fall asleep within 3-4 feet of Code (they were separated by a gate, but still...!). We thought Wendy would run away and hide, but she held her ground... a sweet-tempered but skittish 5 lb., 3 oz. cat against a sweet-tempered but rambunctious 80 lb. dog!

I felt sorry for Code being cooped up for several hours (not including frequent walks outside) but we did a lot of research and most sources suggested introducing the new pet to the resident pet in this manner. We also let Code run around the house, checking things out, a couple of times while Wendy and I were holed up in the bathroom. It's a gradual process but we are pleased with the progress so far.

Thanks again everyone for the good wishes and our beautiful but functional ;) cake knife. There will be one or two receptions when we get back from our honeymoon so it will be used... and admired by many! :)
