Went out to try to take a few plant pictures today. It was a really grey day with some really dark clouds at times. The lighting wasn't too great but I got a few pics I wanted and some I just liked.

The sky was dark...

Stopped down on the river in an area I knew certain plants would be. Saw the "River Gorge Cruiser" from the Tennessee Aquarium.

I think this area is probably the Poison Ivy capitol of the U.S.

It's flowering now, berries won't be too far behind.

I'm not sure if this is poison Sumac or just one of its look-a-likes.

The woods were pretty dark most of the time too.

Saw a good bit of horse hoof fungus, I'll have to remember that later when I'm testing some of the other things I've found lately.

I have no idea what this is, I had to use the flash to get it to show up.

You take great pics, Mist.
Thanks for posting them. I always enjoy these threads.

Great post......as always!:thumbup::thumbup: Still diggin' the RC-3 MIL?:cool:

Thanks man!

Yeah, still diggin' it very much! Awesome knife...still wishing a thicker 5/32 version was available too though :o I don't feel under-knifed really...I'm just used to thicker blades I guess...just dropping back down to 3/16 after 11 years of carrying a SOG Bowie was a shock to my system :) .

Great pictures. I'm just over the mountain in western NC, and before seeing where you're located, my first thought was "hey, that looks like home."

Then you're on the eastern side of the same rain forest right?

Yup. If you take the scenic, through the mountains route, I'm about an hour and a half from Chattanooga. I live right off US441 around Dillsboro, NC, so it's a straight shot down to Murphy, NC and then take 64 into Tennessee. That's one of the prettiest drives I've ever taken this time of the year.

The view from my back porch looks a lot like your pictures.

Not to hijack, but here's a few shots I took in my backyard last spring...

Some really cool shots man, nice back yard!! We have a lt of Rhododendron here too, mainly in the gorges up on the mountains. Do you have a lot of Hemlock over there too?
