Well this morning I put my garden in and decided to go take a hike on the mountain with a good friend. The weather was calling for scattered thunderstorms but we didn't let that damper the day.

Found this little guy while setting up my hammock and rain fly he was under a rock I used to reinforce my stake on my guy lines.

Got the fire started via firesteel.

Rain started up so we took shelter in my buddies lean to set up and sat on some logs and drank some hot tea.

Ran low on water so we collected some off the back of the tarp run off.

Couple of great blades there and that tarp looks like a winner. What do you think of it so far?

Its my first sil nylon tarp and so far so good. Was really easy to set up I ran it off my ridgeline for my mosquito netting too. Held up well to the rain and wind I was very happy with it.
I believe it weighs only 10 oz and it covers my hammock just enough no little no more.

For me its my spring/summer tarp. I have a BCUSA 10x12 coming for colder weather and if I know its going to be heavy rain. Plus its flame retardant.

Looks like a great day to me!!

How far do you have to travel to get to them woods?

My wife and kids are going to spend a couple days in Harrisburg with her Aunt and cousins on June 7th and 8th... I dont get along with one of her cousins so i may have her just drop me off alone in some woods for the weekend when she goes. It looks like Harrisburg is not far from you, if you know of any good quiet camp areas around there id love to know about them!! And if you happen to be free that weekend we may could meet up if you wanted.

It was a blast we go to that area every so often its only a mile from my house on the mountain and once you park on the dirt road its only a couple mile hike in but far enough your away from people.

Yeah I don't blame you on wanting to get out of Harrisburg hehe. The saturday to saturday after bladeshow I have a week long vacation planned so I don't think I'll be around but I'd be more than happy to give you some ideas on where to hit the woods. I gotta check with the wife and make sure thats when our vacation is and I'll let ya know I'd love to meet up.

Sounds good bud, let me know whatever you find out... Hopefully your free then :D but if you cant make it then, we can still set up something at another time. But either way if you know of some good spots to camp overnight in the area I would love to know about them.. Also if its OK to bring my dog to the places... If not I can leave him with a lady my wife works with, but especially if im going alone id prefer to take him with me.

That looks like a perfect day to me. Now I need to get out and do some hiking. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like fun! I'm off work next week, and I plan to get into the great outdoors a good bit!
