Went for a breakfast ride in the mountains with the neighbors this AM, when we got back down here to the flatland it was HOT (David Brown says I'm a wussy :p). There was a package sitting on the porch. I'd bought 3 Basics 3 sheaths from Dr. Bill off the exchange (thanks for getting them out so quickly Bill ) and they were here.

So I got out the Basics, to figure out which sheath each knife wanted. I grabbed the crinkle coat first, it liked the BB, the I got out a smooth coat, neither of the kydex sheaths really fit, WTF ??

I'd heard that the smooth coats had a larger choil than the crinkles, but I never really paid much attention. When I started comparing them they're almost different knifes .

The crinkle has more belly, like a GW and the smooth coat is ground more like a AD . I looked at some of the other Basics, its consistent. The smooth coats are narrower and have a larger choil and talon hole. I like the b-3 in crinkle (it's a little tank), the b-5 is sweeter in smooth.... I have dups of other Busse knives in both coatings, and they're the same knife with different coatings. The differences in the Basics line is stark.

The reset of the brain fart:

When I saw Deusker's post about having a Busse Sage Set, I thought that was really cool, and I could have kicked myself for passing on the Sage Wardens' when they were offered. I've tried a couple of times to score a Sage/green linen from the CS, but you new guys are too much competition. Oh well, no Sage GW for Jimmy.

When I got a GW out of the EDC drawer for comparison with the B-3s', WTFO again, it was a Sage GW I'd spaced out  buying.

So, wow I do have a Sage set

Think I'll twist up a fatty and er ... never mind.

What other knives you got in there you don't know about?? :D
