I don't want to see any political rants in this thread. If you want to rant about the Day Without Immigrants, there is a Rant Thread in the Political Forum.

Here in the Community Forum, I just want to hear what your personal, practical experiences were. If you own or work in a retail business, was business off today? If you own or work in a non-retail business, did your staff show up? Did you have troubles with stores being closed? Was service poor? Did you miss anything or anyone? Were you inconvenienced or effected at all?

If you are an immigrant, did you participate?

My own experience: a day without immigrants is like... any other day.

So, again, without getting into the politics of it, just tell us what your personal, practical experiences were.

Any other day.

Pretty much, my Mexican clients still were clients today, my Mexican co workers were...still coworkers on the job today. There was absolutely no effect at all.

Well I don’t have a workday without illegals, but my girlfriend did say that the cleaning lady for the store she works at did not show last night. Other than that same as every other day.

Well I work in Manhattan fairly close to where supposedly there was to be some big to do.

My day was like any other too. Just the subway ride was longer, but then agian that is normal every now and then too.

A couple of exits were closed on the I-15 to keep the protesters safe when they marched from Fremont St. to New York, New York on the Strip tonight.

Pretty normal beyond that.......

We don't hire illegals but do hire MANY immigrants. I am the only supervisor who treats these people with respect and sometimes genuine friendship. Day shift had no Hispanics show up, they were shorthanded but had enough people to get the job done. If this had happened on a weekend (when we employ the most people) it would have been disasterous. However I have know about this for weeks (it is amazing what you hear just by listening) and have discussed it with my people, they all showed up for my knight shift and we picked up the slack left by the day walkers. So there it is, an effect was felt but the timing of the boycott offset the result.

I take care of sick newborn babies for a living. I also live in the L.A. area. In the hospital, everthing went about as usual. Our Hispanic patients didn't leave. Environmental services showed up on the usual time as well. If I didn't listen to the news, I wouldn't of even known that there was something going on.

The gold tooth, baggy pant, crowd is what drives this nonsense.
My guys and all of my farming neighbors conducted business as usual.
Only the unemployed/ no B wantin to werk anyhoo" crowd were making a scene.

HS loaded about 10 busses of the idiots..
I wonder how many balisongs they confiscated ? :barf: ;)

I saw one young man holding a sign (don't know what it said) in front of his house.

Other then that, no difference.

The only difference I noticed was increased foot traffic near downtown , took me longer to commute home.... :D
