can't afford the real thing right now,so I was wondering if anyone out there knows where I can buy a decent copy of a paragon cobra, preferably with a black blade. Thanks,y'all.

pendentive, do you know of websites offering clone emerson commanders and/or other manual folders? I'm interested in looking at them. Also, what is the correct term for this clones? I had to use the term "budget autos" to search for clone autos on the Web, what should I use for clone manual folders?
Also, could anyone point me to the thread somewhere here in bf that mooted the idea of designers submitting their custom designs for cheaper production knives or something like that....I remember that someone wrote that the designs were similar but by making the knives in the PRC, it would be "budget".
Thanks:D

I would suggest that you buy one of the better made "budget" brands. CRKT as well as Spyderco come to mind. Cold Steel makes a few nicely priced models as well. The clones I've seen can't hold an edge, have unreliable locks and is worth much less than any few pennies you might pay for one.

I agree with getting one of the better budget type knives from CRKT, but what ever gets you more involved with knives has got to be a good thing. Hopefully this will lead you to better knives in the future.

Hey bubbala1 :

Knifezilla.com has what you're looking for in the form of
a Jaguar Cobra AT button lock ; about $35.

A great copy, but not a black blade.

Decent clone? That's what's known as an oxymoron.

Actually, to me, "decent clone" makes perfect sense - it's decent. It won't hold it's edge, it won't last, but will be decent enough to cut and probably hurt yourself with it.

Now, if you want to talk about an outstanding clone, then that's another story.

imho ya should get a spydie/CRKT/gerber/kershaw/buck, the rip offs are junk.....

kinda like buying a fake rolex watch, all your gonna get is trash i think....

to all those who have taken the time to reply to my question, thank you and sorry I didn't get back sooner. Been busy taking care of a sick friend-actually,someone who is detoxing from drugs. I think I will bite the bullet, save my pennies and get the real thing(ain't nothin' like the real thing!)

Just got my Cold Steel CS 29 LT. Since I have this, I lost appetite for clones (China/Taiwan copies) that lies around for 5-10 US$. I don't know how a 35$ clone is, but I sure know a CRKT Point Guard at around the price should be much more reliable ..

IMHO ..
