You may remember a while back B JACKSON posted a picture of a different style Herter`s Improved Bowie.

He asked if I could add a "hump" to the spine, and handle it in zircote, with brass pins. Here is the result.

In it`s retro style sheath.

If anyone is interested in one of these, I am going to take orders for it, with or without the "hump."

That is GREAT!

I also love the retro sheath - like an old Western sheath - nice work!

I phoned John To tell him I would be out to the JK Knife Factory ASAP (Monday) to retrieve my new "Different Improved Bowie", hereafter to be referred to as "DIB". I am very thrilled by the pics and wish I could go get it tonight!
Some Random Thoughts:
George Leonard Herter, RIP Here is the knife you might have sold if price had not been a consideration.
George Sears, Ernest Thompson Seton, Horace Kephart, Theodore S. VanDyke, Farley Mowat, Bradford Angier and Teddy Roosevelt himself will all join me around the campfire and smile knowingly as I whittle sticks and cut hunks of salami with my JK DIB.

Just look at that subtle drop point that just barely hints at being a Bowie clip. That saber grind is so mid century Bowie-ish, wicked, fuctional & distinct.. The thumb ramp (hump) makes it a genuine Herter's. The scabbard is overbuilt like it was from The Redwing Boot Store. Zircote, hard enough to hammer with but pretty enough for a prom date. Brass, the color of .405 Winchester casings This will be and is my favorite knife....I'll shut up now.

That looks like one heck of a cutter. Very nice.

that caught me in the sweet spot have to say, I'm interested for sure,

I wonder if the handle contour could come closer to the end of the handle on the under side though?

Love the hump!

Worth owning just to get around that camp fire methinks :)

You are welcome at our fire anytime! Bring your imagination, an open mind and some liquid corn from the County of Bourbon down your way ....and a knife. (Seton says to bring Scotch whiskey if you prefer)
