Ain't this something else? :D I found a link in a signature on another forum and out of curiosity I followed it and found this neat Seax and sheath. Not like an original and I don't really care for the leather wrapped around the top, back, and bottom of the handle but I do like the guys originality.
And I really, really, do like his sheath! :D It is definitely out of the box!!!!  :D

Definitely different.

I can actually see some viking-era tinkerer nailing leather to the handle for better grip. I wonder if it works something like the exposed tang on the Chris Reeve Yarborough (green beret) - the micarta scales are a little smaller than the steel in the handle, so a little lip of steel sticks out. According to Bill Harsey, Chris Reeve came up with it as a way to get more leverage for twisting motions. I could see the little lip of leather working in a similar fashion.

Sheath reminds me a bit of the quick draw khuk sheath. They're not really that similar though. I like the dark/light contrasting wood in the handle.

Thanks for the pics.

An HI seax twice as long as the ones they make now would be an interesting- and possibly more accurate- version.
