A different type of "safe queen".

My first post so it may be a bit long winded:
When most people show off their safe queens they're often beautiful expensive pieces: one of a kind, limited edition, low serial number, exotic scales or inlays, etc with the occasional heirlooms mixed in. Digging through my collection today I came across my only "safe queen" (pic in the next post) there's nothing fancy about it at all but the sentimental value keeps me from carrying it any longer. I was wondering if anyone else had such a knife they're willing to show. It's your knife, you used it but it's been retired out of respect or reverence.

I have a cheapo folder that my grandpa gave me when I was young..he is gone now and its a safe queen that will never be used.

Like I said, nothing special. A Benchmade pika I bought just after I enlisted. It went everywhere with me for a while.

When my father passed I found a knife in his desk. He must have used it as a letter opener because it probably wouldn't do much more. It was a Paki "Buck 110 clone", you know them, about a buck (pun intended) at a flea market new. Wouldn't stay all the way shut, lock didn't really work. Somehow I like it better than the "presentation" knives he gifted me. I'm going to give them to my son here shortly. I'm a keepin' the one he used.

I agree. The knife that I got from my Dad (it was literally in his pocket when he passed on) is more important to me than any of the high-dollar collectables that I own. I do not use it and it alone lives wrapped in a CRK cloth and placed in my jewelry box. Easily my most significant knife. A Buck 701 Stockman.

My late 30's Primble. It was a gift from my Grandpa back in 1971. It was one of the very few knives he did not sharpen away to a toothpick. I carried for a few years until a near disaster. Was fishing with a friend on a railroad bridge and he accidentally kicked it in the creek below. My heart sank as I thought it was a goner. The sun came out and we saw a faint flash in about 3 feet of water. Friend didn't hesitate, jumped in and came out with my knife. He felt bad and knew that knife meant a lot to me. Stored as a treasure from then on.

I had this knife for years before I ever stumbled on Bladeforums, after which I quickly parted ways with my cash and my common sense :D
