Ok so i want another new knife, who knew right? So I have been looking around and I just cant decide. There are so many choices. So I figured I'd let my friends here help me decide. I like most patterns. Nothing smaller then 3 1/2. No more then 3 blades. Carbon steel preferred, though I'll take stainless if it is a bit better steel. And please, no sunfish, or toenails, etc. So lets hear it, what ya'll got? BTW, I need to keep it UNDER 50 dollars. Danged stipulations by a cheap student...

I am quite partial to this one. Case Large stockman in CV. This model is the bonestag 6.5 model.

It has become one of my favorites. Takes a very sharp edge, virtually no blade play, good snap. Good and big and fits my large hands well.

Was about fifty three bucks shipped if I remember right.

You can get a Queen Sodbuster online in D2 for around 30 bux. :)

You can find any number of nice Bulldogs or Fight'n Roosters in that price range if you look around...

Case mini-trapper or Sway Back Jack in chestnut and CV.

Or, Queen mini-trapper. You can get them in 1095 high carbon or D2.

Why not get a CASE Slimline Trapper or Queen Cut Utility knife? The latter can come in under the 50 bar.

I'm having a dilemma too. Here's what I'm in between:

Queen Amber Bone Whittler
Queen Amber Bone Gunstock
GEC Barlow
Case Swayback Jack

Of course, if my Sebenza sells, I may just end up getting all or most of them! I feel so greedy :o

i gotta say that the large stockman is very tantalizing. which would you guys prefer, the large stockman or the new case swayback jack? those are the ones that are tickling my fancy at the moment.

Did that confuse you more?

Bill

I just ordered a large CV Stockman today, I really love my SS model but I think CV is the best. I am pretty excited about it, so excited about it that I got 2nd day air shipping.

hey bill i gotta say nice choice. gotta say though that i hate that medium. the turkish clip? point is fugly IMHO. the others though i can did. got me a nice trapper as is, and the canoe is only nice if it has a killer swedge and long pulls. now if i could find that i would buy that in a heart beat. nice copperhead though. i enjoy that one alot.

I would have mentioned the 3 1/5" Case Swayback Jack but it didn't meet your size requirement. That said, it would be a dandy EDC regardless of whether you chose SS or CV. Every one of them that I have handled work well and have very nice FnF.

I had the Queen amber bone gunstock for awhile. It was beautiful and solid as hell with strong springs. I traded it (to SunnyD, if I recall) because I just wasn't carrying it much; It is heavy and the square bolsters do not make for comfortable pocket carry, unless you wear heavy jeans all the time or carpenter pants.
