Time to make something a bit different.
(I've shown a few pics over in shoptalk, but here's the whole process)

Cutting out welds. It also shows the knife I use for that, my self made 3finger EDC.

Three welds.

For optimal use this one will take the knife edge to the right as well as to the left.
So it's left handed/right handed, inside pocket carry, belt carry, anything you like.

I had some thick veggy tan laying around. There was a discussion here if it corrodes steel or not. People with more experience then me said it doesn't so let's give it a go.
Here I thinned it from full thickness to "zero".

So you can fold it over without it getting any thicker.

And you can put a magnetic closure in there.

Here it is with the clip I'm using.

Smoothing the tripple weld.

You'll get the idea here

Sinking the thread. I have a new(to me) tool for that, cutting in the push motion, so you see where it cuts.

Most times I use a fixed blade I stick the sheath in my pocket. So with that in mind measuring out where the clip will go.

The clip with a test piece. Removing enough material for the clip to be in the leather not on or behind it.

It can be done so here we go.
One cut to deep and all will have been for nothing.

IMG-20200330-213405.jpg

Here you can see that I've removed material in two levels. The smaller and deeper part for the clip and a larger part that will take thin leather to cover it all.

Some of the same leather, only paper thin to cover the backside of the clip.

IMG-20200330-221451.jpg

To get here.

Here you go, a clip without anything getting any thicker.

All parts together.
I've stitched the flap from the weld to the magnet and back and will stitch the other way trough the welds when everything is glued together.
It will look like one stitching.

Normaly I punch holes with an awl but three layers of 1/8" veggy tan is to thick. This time I drilled them with a 1,5mm drill bit.

Made a custom bead out of the same wood as the handle scales (bocote)

The best knife there is, is the one you have on you when you need it.
That's why I mostly make small to medium size knives.
Here I made a discrete case to cary a 4" fixed blade without it screaming: "there's a knife here!"
It's just a black leather rectangle you can clip to the inside of a pocket, your belt, your luggage or anything else you prefer.

I like it outside the box. What do you guys think?

Very nicely done  Now, make me one - please. :) I really like the sheath and the knife. Is this for pocket carry or off your waist band? The clip and flap would need to be on the same side for pocket carry - at least for me.

Thnx, the clip can be used as a belt loop, so you can wear it on a belt of in a (front) pocket. It is not a quick draw set up but it can be done with only one hand.
I like front pocket sheats in general, I like how you carry a fixed blade almost invisable.
