Greetings everyone!

My name is Sándor Jenes, I am a medical doctor by profession, and I have a passion for everything you can cut with, the sharper the better! My first journey into this world was making straight razors (for the past ~5 years or so), but recently I started to have an interest for folding knives and kitchen knives too.

Almost everything I know about knifemaking stems from WIP and tutorial threads from BF, so I will try to give back some knowledge I have acquired in the future! :) I am at a hobbist level, but try to improve my work with every finished piece. Here are a few pictures of my straight razors, and my recent two folding knives I have made, and will post some more when I will have time to make new folders.

Thanks for reading my small introduction, and I hope you will like my work! :)

They are pretty. Can you provide some info on materials and your design thoughts. For example, why razors, why a hole at the tip of the damascus, which one do you shave with :)?

Welcome!
I really like the folder. Do you offer a combat-grade?
rolf

Thanks! What do you mean under combat-grade? Like one suitable for self-defense, with a heavy duty framelock and thicker bladesteel?

Of course I can :)
Razor materials in succession: #1 O1 steel, red dyed abalone shell laminate on carbon fiber scales. #2 S82 steel with a hamon line, amboyna burl glued to african blackwood scales, CA glue mirror polished. #3 O1/15N20 damascus, camel bone inlays and wedge, macassar ebony scales. That razor is a really old work of mine, and was made on special request of a friend. It was his design, but it is not really practical :)

I shave with my razors only before I send them out, my wife doesn't allow me any more razors than I have now :D Most of the time I shave with japanese vintage western style razors.

The materials for the folders: #1 14C28N blade 3/32" thick, 3" long, african blackwood bolsters, desert ironwood scales, #2 CMP154 blade, CF scales.
All of the other hardware are identical on the two folders: 6AL4V titanium liners, CP titanium screws, ceramic detent ball, hardened barrel pivot, 440C stop pin, PB washers. Titanium stuff is anodised on both knives.

Quite the proud entrance! Outstanding work for a humble newbie.

I look forward to seeing and reading more.

Thanks for stopping by!

Jim

You are welcome, Sandor!
I mean, G10 or Micarta and a satin, or a duty blade finish and maybe a chisel grind.

Beautiful work Doc. Clean and elegant. Where are you?:)

Welcome, Dr. Jenes.

I would say that these pieces are above the level of an average "hobbyist" as you put it. You should be rightly proud.

Thanks for sharing them.
