Stitches......
Well my Sunday night routine of touching up edges ended in disaster tonight.
Its my own fault really. I'm a young parent of a young child and we both are growing and learning things along the way. I was sitting at the table with 3 of my edc fixed blades, a bk14 a bjk 155, and a kfu. All sheathed mind you. And my son climbed on a chair and said " watcha doing?" So I told him and he sat there and watched for about 5 minutes as I put a wicked sharp edge on my bk14 on the waterstone. Since the others are convex I needed to load up the strop. I set the bk14 down in its sheath, and started loading up the leather.
I out of the corner of my eye I see my kid pick up the bk14. Now I should have reacted faster but since it was sheathed it was more of a lackadaisical motion to get it back from him. well don't you know the little sponge just happened to figure out how to unsheath the knife just as I was putting my hand in its way. The retention broke free, and the blade caught me between the pinky and ring finger knuckles on my hand. After a few choice words and a paper towel, I looked at the wound and yup you can see my pinky knuckle bone. So I'm posting this from my phone, in the ER, waiting for stitches. Let that be a lesson to ya. Be careful with what you Fisk.....
