These pics aren't as exciting as the stuff I see here regularly, but I'll share them anyway.

I work for an electrical contractor in New Hampshire, and one of the sites I manage is up in Berlin. So as part of my management duties, I need to visit the site every week or so. The views are always great, but I never take the time to stop and enjoy them. So, this time, I did.

These first pics are from the truck as I am driving. Not very easy to get a good pic while driving. This is entering the Franconia Notch region...

I finally stopped at a parking area to take a couple shots.

One of the great landmarks in NH was the Old Man of the Mountains, a rock formation that looks like a side view of a man's face. I say "was", cause a number of years back, it finally broke loose. Just look at our state quarter to see what it looked like before...:D

Here's what it looks like now...

Unrelated to anything, here's a cool looking moss covered log...I stopped to take a picture and the mosquitos were on me like vultures.

Our job site is located on the outskirts of Berlin. Berlin used to be a booming paper mill town, but now it is barely a blip on the map.

The job site sits on top of a hill. There great views of Mount Washington and all around. Unfortunately, I am prohibited from taking pictures at the job site, unless I want to be arrested.

Thanks for looking...

beautiful pics #3 is text book classic geo expo. of a talus slope.in austin the closet green is 80 miles away.most severe drought in 40 yrs. most of rock here is limestone & some granite.curious to know if your area is mesomorphic or igneous. whatever it's fantastic.txs for the eye candy.

Nostalgic for me.

My dad grew up in Bethlehem, NH nearby; his father had a bakery in Littleton until he retired and sold it in the early 1980's. I spent a lot of happy summers tromping around that area, and some skiing in the winters (I learned to ski on Cannon Mtn.).

I have no family there now, but I still visit the area as a motorcycle riding destination these days . . .

Ahhhh.... one of my most favorite places in the world... just beautiful up there! My family and I were there in May, but we only got out on the trails twice, the rest of the time we were "roughing it" at the Mt Washington Hotel.... :)

Thanks for posting the pictures, can't tell you how many great memories that brought back.. :)

why would you be arrested for taking pics???

The site is going to be a federal corrections facility. They don't want any cameras on site, but that is very tough to do with camera phones and all. It doesn't matter to them if you are snapping a pic of the view of the mountains, they have the authority to arrest you. Sounds crazy, I know, but I'd rather not find out if they are kidding or not.

I had some of the best hiking experiences on the White MTS.
Thanks for posting.

Beautiful area! Thanks for the great photos. I climbed Mt. Washington in 1979 and enjoyed it.

I'm straining my feeble brain trying to figure out what the image is on the "LIVE FREE OR DIE" stone... can anyone help me? Is it a representation of The Old Man in the Mountain before he sort of came apart?

Stay sharp,

I think it is just an artist representation of the original OMITM...
