I know Buck sold sets or pairs of hunting knives back in the day with a "piggyback" sheath. Some combinations have been posted here.

My dum question:
Did Buck ever sell a 103 and 119 set or pair with a "piggyback" sheath?

I've seen a 104, was a 102&103.

116&103

And a 118&103

I think that is it. Not 100% sure on the combo model numbers,

Fresh from Spa, knives bought online and lucky Mt Pokt spotted this sheath for me.

A 119 and 103 set would be pretty cool.

Now those are piggy back, the others are "side by each." At least that is what my grandmother would call them. Side by side to the rest of us.

The models are: the 104 = the twin set and combined the 102 &103.
the 115= the Sportsman set combined the 103 & 118
the 117 = the Trophy set combined the 103 & 116.
And to afishhunter's question, that set does exist. I've held one and posted pictures of it here on the BladeForum. Photos maybe lost to the pillage of PhotoBucket. It was not mine. Both knives were one liners. I'm thinking that was Not a regular Buck offering but back then you could get what ever you ask for. So, I'm thinking it was a customers request. At least another person was in your way of thinking. DM

Thank you, everyone. :)

I tried to get a 103 today, at one of the local sporting goods stores.
Of the 4 in town, none stock it. :(
I guess I'll have to get it online. I was hoping to avoid the shipping delay. :)

Their are some good ones out there. I paid 22 bucks for the old one in the pic I posted above. Don't let scratched blades stop your purchase. Just send it in to Buck and it will come back like new.

Scratches just give them character. :)

I know it's about collecting now.

I was wondering if anybody here would wear one of these hunting? To me it's a processing set, left at home to do the skinning . The Skinner and the caper make the most sense to me. With the knife of your choice on your belt to field dress the deer.

Someday I'd like to make a massive copy with slots for the whole 100 series complete with the flapover.

I've not seen anyone wearing a twin sheath set or has anyone told me they wear one while out hunting. I think they carry them in their day pack and get it out as needed. My cousin carries one, it's the 117 Trophy set that you mention. And he uses the 116 Caper to prepare pan
fish, trout. The twin sets sold well for Buck and I rarely see them at a gun show. DM

Years and years ago I carried my 103 and 118 in my pack. This was before my interest in collecting. I didn't have the sheath until years later, I did carry the set in my pack with the sheath until I learned that it was collectible. Preston

I'm not a collector. If/when I manage to pair my 119 with a 103 and get a sheath for them, it will be to carry in the field.
Come to that, instead of just a side x side sheath for them, maybe I'll piggyback a 110 on the 119 side, and a small arkansas stone (or maybe a 301 stockman?) on the 103 side. :)
Weight on the belt has never been an issue or bother for me.
