Hi Gang- I just looked at some folders made by Lucas Burnley and he is making his folders more fancy; engraving, specialty metals, etc. He's not the only maker going this way. Will this be the trend in 2017?
The market seems slow, or uncertain, so why offer more expensive knives?
danks!

Are these full time or part-time makers?

Part-time. Don't really have to worry about selling them if they have others means of earning a living.

Full-time. Taking a chance or maybe offering up a little of everything to cater to a wider customer base

No good insight to offer on the subject, BUT I think this is the longest post i've ever seen of yours! :D Do you have a pic to describe what you are referring to? I thought there are a ton of knives like you describe unless you are referring to the market being slow on fancy stuff?

Lucas Burnley is full time and well known. Luc has contracts with Boker.
Thanks, Jon. :D I will ask you to Google, please. Burnley is very talented and he offers bling, like bottle openers and even a slingshot, that are selling very well! I know!
I'd like to see some more raw, bare bones style knives. I really like what Walter Wells offers, in that respect.

I think there are at least two factors, Rolf;
1. the market for contemporary folders is maturing
2. we live in an increasingly financially stratified world

I appreciate your input, Lorien. Thank you.
You keep a finger on the knife pulse.
Luc also has a contract with CRKT.

Nor would I. ^
Actually, I have some irons in several fires.
Get busy, Lorien.
