My Birthday was April 1st(really!).I got some $$ from various family & friends,so I decided to treat myself to a few knives I've been drooling over the past month or so.I really wanted a BM930,but Knifeworks was out of stock,so I settled:rolleyes: on the uncoated PE BM950.Also got a Spyderco D'Allara(really want to try that ball bearing lock) & lastly I got a Ranger RD6.I can't wait till they get here.I still dream about that BM930.I'll probably/definately wind up getting it in the next month or two.So needless to say,I had a pretty darn good 39th Birthday:)

I would like to hear your observations on the 950 Drift as I want one of these as a light carry knife. I really like the looks of it.

Belated Happy B-Day, JTR! You will post pics of your knives, right? RIGHT?! :D

Thanks for the belated wishes:) & yes,as soon as I get them I'll post pics.I have a pretty lousy camera though,so don't expect any Hi-Rez shots;)

1.Spyderco D'Allarra Drop Point...
Sweet knife:thumbup:Out of the box razor sharp. The ergos are amazing.I love that ball-bearing lock.Definately in the EDC rotation.

2.BM950 Plain edge uncoated...
Like the spyderco, this one was razor sharp out of the box.Axis was a little rough at first.Put a little 3&1 inside.Loosened the action a hair.Everything's very smooth now:thumbup:I love the design on the handle & the blade design(reverse tanto) works excellent as a utility based folder. Also going in EDC rotation.

3.Ranger RD6...
The first thing I noticed about this knife was the weight. It's heavy! Quarter inch thick, six inch long 5160 blade, with Justin's legendary heat treament. The powder coat is very rough on it.I originally thought this knife was pretty dull(ran my finger along the edge with no bite),out of the box.I'm so used to buying super sharp folders though,& realized that is not what this knife is made for. It's definately a chopper, because of it's weight.I touched it up on my sharpmaker for about 30min & put a thin coat of 3&1 on it.It now graps my thumbnail when I run along it.That's all I want for it anyway, cause it'll be taking the place of my hatchet on camping/hunting trips & don't really want a thin edge on it.I'mm looking foward to trying it on some 3-4" logs. This my first hvy duty fx blade.Frankly,I'm getting tired of carrying a fixed blade,a folder & a hatchet on hunting trips.I usually carry a small 2" skinner fxd blade w/a guthook to clean/skin game.Still probably keep the hatchet in the truck. The sheath is everything I look for in a sheath & the little pouch on it holds my skinner:D It's a lot like the ZT0100's sheath. The handle is very comfortable also..won't know till it gets some use

Sorry about the lack of (original) pix.I'm waiting on a 7 mega pixel camera,to replace my POS 3.2 I have now.I don't think posting pix with that will do my new knives much justice. As soon as it comes in,I'll post the pix on this thread...maybe in use;)

Here's some stock pix to give you the general idea of what I got...
