It has been fun playing with the Bushmaster. I like it, it reminds me a bit of a Recluse with a pointer point. It has been involved in breakfasts, lunches, dinners (and even desserts), and it has been put to task in Bushcraft type uses.

It handles well, and offers good blade control. I'll try to pick up one of the smaller models later that I will be able to carry longer, to more places, and do more stuff with. Maybe a Trailmaster or Utility, and see how the AEB-L does over time and maybe some salt water tests this summer.

Cool! I need to get the website set up and finishsed so you can post some blogs there...

Would love to see how the CBW knives feel in the hand.

It doesn't have the same level of ergonomics as the Fiddleback Forge knives, but the price tag isn't anywhere near as high either. Because there are less steps involved. That said, it isn't uncomfortable, just different. It doesn't have as many curves and contours as the FF models, but what contours it does have work very well. I've enjoyed using it very much, but it has gotten most of its use in the kitchen since my leg is still not healed enough to get to far off the beaten paths. So I am very much looking forward to checking out the smaller models I can carry more places.

Fiddleback Fiddleback I'm already working on the website content Andy, have been for weeks. But I'll be able to do more once I have one of the smaller models to work with. I need to try to land a Trailmaster and a Necker to work on some of the stuff I have in mind.

Thanks for sharing these! I definitely have plans to get a couple CBW knives.

No problem Orion, I do too. I'm wanting to take a couple of the Trailmasters exploring with Alayna and myself in Florida this summer if we can swing the trip.

The Trailmaster is definitely the model that I'm most interested in. After Justen's preview of it I can't wait to check one out.

Yeah Justen's review definitely piqued my interest. Then using this one and liking it has me really looking forward to one I will be able to spend more time with. Maybe this coming autumn I will be able to get further off the beaten path with something larger lol. But the stress fractured Tibia and torn Achilles tendon are taking forever to heal completely, though I can do steps without tears rolling down my cheeks now which is nice :)

I had a workshop with the local BSA Troop, Troop 116, last night. I used the Bushmaster for the gathering of materials. and for teaching them how to use resin rich pine and a ferro rod in the rain. Then afterward I was told they wouldn't be able to replicate it because they can't carry a knife quite that big. So...next week I'll take one of my 3. 1 inch blades (I was told they preferred the kids use 3 inch blades or less so I'll end up using @Cohutta 's Ocoee for now) and I'll work on snagging a trail master for some future classes. I have some ideas for teaching classes and some common sense knife basics their leadership has no idea how to teach. We'll see how this goes. They didn't have anyone there qualified to teach any real knife skills or firecraft methods.

Did the boys get to try the knife at at all. Neato day.
A couple did and really liked it. But there was clearly a lot of apprehension. The instructors and kids alike all saw it as a big knife and sort of tuned it out because it's beyond what they are allowed to carry. We'll see how other meetings go in the future. They aren't even allowed to carry a fixed blade at all to any of their camps. Just here locally do they're instructors let them have small fixed blades. They barely know how to teach them enough to earn their totin chip. Hell, I asked their instructors if they had taught them anything about friction fire, and they said no-one there knows how, and asked me how i thought PJCBs would work as a tinder material using a fire steel. I think Monday was the first time most of them had even seen a ferro rod in action up close. If i am going to do any good here I definitely have my work cut out for me.
