I know...I'm still not around as much as I would like to be ltely. I am still sorting a new life...and that has recently been made more complicated by a biopsy and waiting on the results and how it will effect my new job... but more on that later. Lately I have been edc-ing the 'raptor quite a bit. It was a model I wanted years ago, but am just now really putting through it's paces as an edc in life in general. It has been used mostly for food prep so far in breakfasts and lunches with a friend. She seems to like it s much as I do. It does a great job on bagels, and then flipping it over to the spine side it makes a great cheese spreader as well :) Apparently we both have a thing for the look of Bocote as well.

It does well in sharing sandwiches also :)

I was right when I thought this blade shape would be a good one for the HB family of knives. It handles very well and has a great utilitarian personality as I suspected it would :)

Brian - good to see you back. That handle combo is awesome, Bocote is one of my faves. Looks like a solid choice for many tasks.
Thanks for sharing.

Glad to see you sir!

Thanks Preston, life is complicated lately...to put it mildly. Being diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma isn't helping things either, but it could definitely be worse from what I am reading. I really like the look of Bocote, grain style and color, and I love this blade shape.

Glad to see you sir!

Thanks! Good to be around man :) I am trying to be around more often...

Welcome back. I too love that blade shape. I think it really fits the modern world where I just don't skin out dinner as much as I used to.

Nice to see you back.
I have always like the wharncliffe style blades. They have always seemed very utilitarian to me.

Good to see you back Brian.

The spalting on the raptor is very nice. Not a bad lunch either [emoji106]

Thanks man. Yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at too. It will be fine for small game and fish and fowl if needs be, and is awesome in utilitarian uses in an urbanized environment.

good to see you back

nice looking sammich as well

Thanks man :) Yeah the deli at our local grocery store makes awesome sandwiches.

Looks good mist

Thanks Bob :)

Thanks man. I haven't always been drawn to them, but over the years I have developed a fondness for them. They are very utilitarian, and can be great for food prep.

Thanks Abe, good to be back here. This forum is good for my head. The spalting on this one is just awesome. I love the way the A2 takes the splting.

Basal Cell carcinoma, they are scheduling me for some procedure I've never heard of, but everyone says it's not the worst things and shouldn't be that bad, so I find that encouraging...just not looking forward to being put under and having my head operated on...

Brian,
If you have to have one, that one is the one to have- easy to get shed of. Your pumpkin is no glamour shot so new scar will not hurt your looks ;)

Get it done and heal up, you have MANY more miles to go yet :)

If you are going to have skin cancer then this is certainly a "better" type. I speak from experience and have had serveral spots removed. The standard way of removing these is with the Mohs procedure. Are they really putting you under? Normally it is just a localized anesthesia and this included my cheek and lip but your situation may be different.

Best of luck to you and heal quickly.

thanks for the update. i don't know about any of that, but could understand not wanting to be put under. best of luck, and wishing you a full and speedy recovery, my friend.

Thanks Bill, this mirrors what I keep hearing so I am remaining hopeful. I don't mind scars at all, I just hope they don't have o shave my head :)

Thanks man, yeah I don't care for being put under. When I was a kid they always had trouble bringing me back around...

I hope it's okay that I laughed. Like, a lot.

Hear, hear! :)

Life is short, and there is no such thing as too much happiness and laughter. Totally ok wth me that you laughed, I don't take myself...or anyone else for that matter, so seriously that I can't laugh at myself. I laugh at myself all the time...

Prayers your way Brian.

Remember, the opposite sex dig scars [emoji3]

Thanks Abe much appreciated. I can dig the scars, lately the opposite sex has been digging playing with my hair when it's down, and I'm digging her doing that...so I'm hoping they don't have to shave it all off. :)
