My name is Steven Long and I have been lurking in the shadows soaking up the information for quite some time. Just got me a knife maker membership and wanted to introduce myself. I started playing around with the idea to make a few knives about a year ago. Slowly started researching and what became a minor hobby had quickly turned into an obsession in no time. Finished my first knife in January and am just about done with #10. This place has been a huge help in getting me where I'm at today. Want to thank all of the contributors here.

Here are a few pictures of a few recently done...

Nice work! I'm not a maker, but I do buy knives, and I would be very happy with any one of these. How about some specs?

Very nice knives and photography. The build and grinds look very clean. Thanks for sharing.

Nice work, Steve........and you have a name that will take you far!!!;):D

Very nice, Steven. You're doing well for no longer than you've been doing this. These are quite clean. The only thing that I would like to see is a slightly larger ricasso area with your name/touch mark there.

Well done.

Gary

I'm really liking your designs, very clean and compact.
Not crazy about smaller knives with an exaggerated ricasso or choil.

Clean and well executed, especially considering the relatively short period you have been making knives.
You might try tapering a tang on a future knife.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Paul, I get the family discount, right... :D

Gary, might just have to try that, thank you.

Kevin, I have a pile of blades that didn't make the cut which I use for practicing new things. Tapered tangs are hopefully coming soon. Thanks!

Super job Steve. Clean, great attention to detail and nice aesthetics. Keep it up.

Like the others, super clean work for as far as you are into this journey. Good photography as well.

Thanks guys!

Just finally started feeling comfortable in front of the grinder. Nice to hear that it is paying off.

I'm impressed!
You are a proficient enough craftsman by the looks of it, and your patterns are sporty and appealing.
My advice is to stay a slave to your obsession for awhile, before becoming a slave to consumers.
Looking forward to charting your growth in knife making.
Keep it real :)

As already stated very nice/clean work. I appreciate the pic of the Box Elder knife plunges; well done.

Thank you, Lorien! Great advice. I am teeter tottering between the two right now. Might need to heed your advice and slow down a bit. It went from a few orders to a lot of orders within a week or two. Trying to find that sweet spot. Thanks for the comments!
