Greetings Joe and Viewers, I hope all is well for those living in Tornado country, I called Bill and Sidra and the bad weather missed Woodlawn, Tx. thankfully! Here are two damascus knives from 2008 and 2004,a Hell's Belle and a hunter. They have cocobolo coffin handles with iron fittings and blades of Bill's favored working pattern "Satan's Lace". Bill was very proud of the Belle and it's easy to see why, when I checked it out the knife no sooner settled into a saber grip than its power, balance and reach became instantly obvious; a few deft movements brought the realization that here was a blade built for strength and duty yet remained agile and acquired point easily. Others who have held it gave me very positive feedback as well. For me, Bill's ability to blend a myriad of capabilities into a given bowie is a fascination that has not dimmed with the decades, only made me anxious to see what's coming next! Like Joe Paranee has pointed out, Bill's work is only getting better. One example is the hunting knife shown here, this was bought from Bill at the 2004 SOS show in Texas where we had set up. Bill said that this was the knife used on a Buffalo he had harvested in Montana in 2003, and may be the knife our own Erik Fritz was referring to when posting about the first time that he had ever used a damascus knife ... and said "Wow". Bill sent me a couple of pics of his Buffalo, Sharps Rifle and himself and I believe Erik took them IIRC...( Any recollections would be most welcome!) The backdrop was classic Montana, snow and yellow grass and Bill in a wool coat. I sure do appreciate JP for posting these Bagwell threads for us all to share and would like to thank everyone for their kind replies! Sincerely, Bob Furusho

Thanx for posting this.
I'd love to see a better photo of the hunter.
I've got this thing about guardless coffin handled knives, you see :)

Wow that brings back memory's. Yes that is the knife that we used on the Buff. It was a good weekend and a memorable one the offhand shot and hitting the buffalo in the heart was something i will always remember. I can't quite remember but i think the shot was at 186 yards.

Thanks again for the thread guys!

I think where other maker's can't quite touch Bill is in the handle design. I found most others are too short for a fighting bowie running at 5" - 5 1/4". To me Bill's handle is long enough to switch grips and not be up against the guard esp. in saber grip.

Love these Bagwell threads !
Thanks, Joe and Bob !
Quite a pair , the cocobolo coffin HB does it for me.
