Been noticing a few things...

*The text box keeps scrolling up while I'm typing replies. This started again last night.
*In 'Dark Gray" skin all the text options are now white on white. Can't see them. This started a few days ago.
*something is screwy with the text drop down for font size. This started at least a week ago.
*Open attachments uploaded to BF are partially in the background, they open in the top left corner, and won't close. (I have to refresh the page to make them go away) This started a couple of weeks ago.
*The quote post feature is not working for quick replies (I get the spinning circular arrow). It has to be tapped twice to work in Go Advanced (full text editor?) Also started a few weeks ago.

WinXP/IE8

...Is it my system or the Vb software? Any help would be most appreciated, thx! :)

WinXP/IE8

I've been having problems with browsers. Right now I am stuck with ... WinXP and IE8. Sooo much is missing. Buttons don't show up, I have to mouse around for the title to pop up. Font colors unavailable. (Remember I couldn't see you in red?)

I'm afraid it's time to upgrade Windows. XP is no longer supported by MS and won't work well with IE8 and later.

I run XP and Firefox. I have no problems.

I just tried logging in with XP and IE8. I looked at various threads and scrolled around.
I had no problem.

Frank, you are an engineer. Computers don't dare mess wih you.
I am a linguist. Computers mess wih me just to hear the colorful vocabulary I employ.

Using XP-SP3 and IE8. Haven't noticed any problems in function or features with BF lately.

Ok, thanks guys. Much appreciated!

I'll keep searching around my computer. Might have some sort of incompatibility issue going on with something else on it. It is an old laptop, so I'm not very surprised to hear that it's probably the culprit. Shopping around for a new one anyway...it's time. :)

Not sure about any of this. As usual, proper response is to keep your browser upgraded when possible.

No worries, Spark. Like I said, just needed to see if it was my 'puter or not...and it seems that it is. My laptop is old. This one has served faithfully since 9/2004, but it's definitely time to upgrade.
As far as the browser goes, I can't move up to IE9 with WinXP...at least I don't think I can, but maybe I can try another browser while deciding what to get for a replacement system.

What browser do you use? :)

No problems here. Opera 11.5 on windows 2000 service pack 4.

You might try this clean up utility, ccleaner. Does a nice job. It's remarkable what's left behind even when you flush your browser caches.

Nope, can't use IE9 with XP or I would have upgraded.

You might give Chrome a shot. I added it a few weeks ago when folks were having problems here. Realized having a more up-to-date browser alternative on my system might be a good idea.:D
Fairly painless to install. Runs fast and doesn't seem to bog my system down. Security is rated as good as or better than IE8.

Still using IE8 99% of the time cause I'm use to it.

XP and IE 8 on my desktop box. No issues.

Bladeforums does run faster on my new Windows 7 laptop with IE 9.

Might give Firefox a try, with XP. That's what I used on my old system (2003 Compaq), before it finally died and forced my current upgrade to Win7/Firefox. I was impressed even then, with that older version of FF, and I've never looked back to IE.

Hey Alex,

My, and several others I know IE8 will not work here since the problems here a while back. Everyone I know that had problems had them with IE8 only, but only at this site.

I downloaded Firefox, and it works great here. I've also heard Chrome is a really good one.

Nothing wrong with Firefox, plus it has some handy and interesting add-ons.

When I looked a few weeks ago, Chrome and IE9 were leading in popularity, speed, and security. Firefox was lagging very slightly behind. All that seems to change weekly so any would be a good choice.

Thought I had a solution when I discovered that I had missed a few optional updates (NET 4.0), and after installing the attachments thing worked again...once. Then back to more of the same. I also think I've got some sort of issue with the touchpad conflicting somehow... I move the mouse, the text editor scrolls up. I stop, it stops. Weird. Not a major deal...unless I'm multi quoting, lol. I did just notice that I can change the size of the box, so that will help skirt the issue.

OK, either Firefox or Chrome, huh? Cool, thanks fellas, I've give 'em a try. :)
Much appreciated!

Went with Chrome. Seems to have solved the issues so far. Thank you, all, for the help & suggestions. Nice to have my favorite site back running the way it was...and apparently is for y'all! :):):)
