I'll have to assume that "SCRABER" means apprentice. I'm copying and pasting exactly as recieved from Nepal.

With a few more stats, we could make some kami cards and trade em' with our friends. :) Of course we'd have to throw in a small stick of laha for chewing too.

Good pics.

Of interest to me is that one of Bura's helpers, Sadhu, is a 40 year old full fledged kami. Bura, a perfectionist and a man of not great patience, does not do well with young apprentices who lack knowledge and skill.

No big surprise to me Uncle, anybody that has one of Bura's blades need only use it once to know there were no rookies involved in it's making. If Sadhu is the good and competent kami I strongly suspect he is, then Bura's knowledge will carry on in capable hands when Bura retires.

I've never met Sadhu in person but I'd bet he can make a khukuri about as well as anybody in the shop and I'd also bet he is related to Bura in some way.

Good idea Bruise! But you can have my "laha chewing gum". Would make a nice Info sheet to go with those Dahnkuta Kothimodas listed today in the BBBB section.

Don't you just love any thing to do with HI and it's personnel.

I guess if I put enough beeswax in my laha it would be soft enough to chew.:D

Well, from what I've heard, a scabber (according to a brit buddy) is somewhat of an apprenticeship, either for an older subject or an unknown journeyman.

Thanks, Thun. British style English is very prevalent in Nepal due to being a neighbor of India which had more British influence than they needed or wanted for a couple of hundred years.

I bet they meant to say 'scriber', most likely the guy who does the kami marks, swords of shiva, and any other metal detailing that needs scribing. Most likely gets the apprentice used to working iwth the metal hot and cold.

p.s. cool stats! If we mailed stuff their addresses, would it make it to them? I wonder....

Good point Ferrous. I bet they would love to get pictures and mail or small gifts from their FANS!!! Seeing pictures of the men who make these masterpieces is great! Making a knife in the modern world with expencive power tools is great but, making beautiful knives like these with the primitive tools and living conditions is awsome.

Do these men know how mutch we adore their work? ( I know - adore is the only word I could think of)
How I wish I could have half the skill as them.(rambling?)
