What do the kamis use and what is the best thing we can use to carve the little rings in the handles?

Is the leather on the sheath glued on? How hard is it to remove the karda and chakma pouch and flap and sew the sheath back together?

HD, for the rings, I just used a needle file. The handle I modified was wood, but it should work for horn as well.

The leather is nailed and sewn onto the leather. The brass tip is glued. It is not hard to take off the pouch, take away the frog, then just remove the nail on the tip of the triangle on the backside of the sheath, remove the little square leather pieces inside the loops (these pieces cover the nails), then jou just have to take out a piece of wood, the loops, cut the leather into shape and glue/nail it back into place. Remember to fit the frog (a set of new holes) as the scabbard will be slimmer.
