A few mods to my BK5 lots of pics

This is the BK5 I won from Clich for blowing the log cabin up. It arrived with a Clich Fisk convex.

I stripped it, super easy with the Kleen Strip gel

Next I sanded it by hand to remove the tool marks. I thought I had pics of that but I guess not. It was close to a mirror polish but not quite.
The patina is just from kitchen use the last several months. As I slice something up I just let it sit a bit before I clean it off.
The other day I ordered Micarta from L4NE4 he got them shipped right away and even gave me some nice fatwood.
All I need now is a nice set of leather pants for her.

And this last pic was so I could try to show how the knife is still shiny even with a pretty dark patina. Im really liking it.

thats purdy! Like the polished micarta and the natural patina...that patina is sharp looking.


I'm excited...finally can look at BK5 threads without being jealous! Now I just have to wait......

Nice Patina !! That's the stripper I use too, man that stuff s t i n k s! Works good though.

I am stripping my BK9 as I type. Just sprayed on the gel stripper and waiting 15-20 minutes. Your BK5 has a great look!

Thanks that stuff works great. I read about it on here so I wont take credit. Just wipe it on and 15 mins later the coating falls off. Now the tool marks that was about a week of evening TV watching. I guess that's why Beckers don't cost as much as Randalls lol

Oh I will get that one for sure. But I just couldnt pass it up. P.S. don't tell her its a knife I all ready have. She wont care that it was $20 bucks for a $75 knife.

LOL IDK but I have been using it as my only kitchen knife since Jan. We are all still healthy. However my wife does not like it as a kitchen knife. She says it is too big. I dont agree, but I like big knives.
