A few moments with my M-43

My wife updated her honey-do list which included cleaning gutters, hedging, chainsaw work, and cutting down shrubs. Out of the list, cutting shrubs sounded like the closest to actual fun, since I'd be able to use one of my Himalayan Import Khukris.

My blade of chose is generally an M-43. I like the blade design, the palm swell, and the exaggerated pommel. I have three M-43, and they range from 26-27 OZs. at 15" overall. The blade is actually a little heavy for today's task, as a lighter blade would have swung faster. Since the resistance was minimal, the lighter blade made more since. And it's not that I don't own light HI models, I do. I just really like the M-43. Why not just use a M-43?
So, here's what I was up against when I began.

More difficult swinging and videoing than I would have thought. Looking through my phone camera while swinging a Kuk gave a sense of immense caution.

And finally, aligning that edge again. Five strokes on each side with a butcher's steel and it's back to where it was when I started.

Well done, made short work of that chore.

I hate honey do list, I know what needs to be done ya know. Been thinking about throwing my hearing aid away or having her voice box removed.

Her honey do list for today includes a trip to the hearing aid store to make sure it's working or see if there's something better available. She wants me to hear when she nags. I think it's just congestion, comes and goes which is a nuisance but beyond my control.

Bawanna, I'm not sure they make hearing aids for selective hearing :D

Dobe, looking good! My M-43 is my blade of choice for most everything, as it is the only khuk that rides in my car everywhere I go. Mine is 17" and 27oz, so it feels quite a bit lighter than it actually is. Furthermore, Lachuu is a powerful wizard, and cast the spell of permanent sharpness on this blade. As it sits in its kydex rig, the blade and edge get a little rusty (I never oil it), but a few chops into some dead hardwood and the blade is shiny and sharp again. It's like something from a myth. I think it needs a name

Hope there isn't a trampoline nearby, kind of resembles an above ground punji pit.

I love the 15" m-43. The fully curved 18" is a warhorse classic, but I find the 15"er to be so much handier.

If I were to get another HI Kuk, it would be a 17" 25 OZ M-43, as mentioned above by Singlegrind.

Make sure to request a magic one like I said. Makes all the difference. Auntie may be able to cast some sorta spell if you happen to find one that isn't already magical, but it may cost extra :D
