Well, you've already seen Robert Laufer's excellent review of the Canadian Knifemakers Guild April-2002 show (the "main course", so to speak), so here are a few items you might enjoy as "dessert".
My first purchase was a fillet knife from Murray St. Amour's table. I bought this knife with a purpose: to offer it to a friend of my wife's so she could give it to her husband, an avid fisherman, for his birthday. However, after I got it home, I decided it's not really suitable for him
so I will have to keep it for myself.
Detail of the scrim, by George Campbell. Handle is micarta; 440C blade; 58-59rc. (all technical information has been kindly provided by each individual maker...at least until I graduate from "novice" status)
This is one of the first folders from the shop of Matt Stocker (Nova Scotia). It was only after I purchased it from Matt that I noticed the number "3" engraved on the bottom of the spacer. Matt explained that this was only the third folder he had made. Well, the number "3" is my "lucky number (OK, so I am a LITTLE bit superstitious) and I consider myself lucky to have this little beauty. I'm really looking forward to the next set of folders from this maker.
The blade is ATS-34; bolsters are titanium; screws are stainless steel. And the scales are wenge wood. (OK, so I'm not superstitions - but wenge? And my last name is....enge? I was MEANT to have this knife, Matt!)
