A few new knives

Well, I picked these up in the past week or so. I wanted a couple new knives to use while camping/hunting. A couple will be sold or traded, but I am not sure which ones. The wife said a couple had to go though. The three Laconico's are just sweet, they are all my first ones from him. I held a friends once and fell in love. The NWA is one of Nick Allens older blades, its only marked NA. It is a sweet little blade, but I think that is one of the ones that will have to go. I have a few in that size already. The Scrap Yard is the last of the bunch, it is nice, just not my style I think, it is the other that will be gone I think.

Not sure I will ever be able to sell either HWK's or the custom, one HWK is lightly used, the other is new. The larger Laconico is 1/4" 5160 at around a 6" blade. I used to use a RAT6, but I think this one will take its place. One of the HWK's will be on my belt. I will keep the other as a back up. I am going to try and get a larger NWA blade to fit my large paws. It is the first time I have ever felt or seen his work, and it is fantastic. So, NWA is still on my wish list. Anyone have a suggestion of what model to try and get from him?

I have gone through about 25 Busse and kin knives overall, and none seem to fit my hand well. I wish I could find one I just couldnt get rid of. The only one I really loved was an older 1/300 SHBM, but it was a $1,400 knife and I couldnt bring myself to use it.

So, what do you guys think, do I have my bases covered. I have other blades, but these are my newest. Most my other knives are not really geared towards bushcraft so to speak. Sorry, I am a horrible photographer.

DANG!!!!

You have some seriously nice knives

Great selection there Bro

I have the same model NWA knife-

You got all your bushcraft bases covered there--and then some!!!

Brian, your on my wish list too my friend. I have been eyeing your knives for a while.

Thanks man

I have a chopper profile I think WILLIAM.M needs to see as well. I'll pm it to ya :D

oohh.. those are some great looking knives... i love those Laconico's.. Ray's a cool guy and his work is top notch...

Sweet, I will keep an eye out for it.

Ray is a great guy, he has answered all my pain in the butt questions. Every time I got the scratch together to order one from him, I picked up his blades second hand. I do want a project W really bad though.

Dang Elliot you been busy. My next knife is gonna be a NWA then a Laconico after that. Ive never held a knife that felt like it was made for my hand. But the 2 NWA that I have held do just that.

I like them all, but the Laconicos catch my attention a little more. They look great. Thanks for sharing with us

Nice!!

Love the HWKs, and the Laconico Camp knife. I just put an order in with Ray recently for my birthday blade. Im pretty exited, havent bought any steel in awhile.....

The NWA is sweet too!

I like that model of SY. Its pretty cool, I always liked those res handles.

Nice haul man!!

Man those are sweet! For some reason I don't own any Laconico's yet, though many have appealed to me. His handles look wide, but the scales are pretty thin looking, so I'm not sure how they'd fit my paws. They're a question mark for me.

Spooky, yes my handles are probably thinner than most. I only use 1/4" scales on my full tang knives. So if the blade is 1/8", the handle will only be 5/8" at the thickest. It's really a matter of preference. Personally, I like it this way so I make them this way.

dbltap, those HWK's look like they have thumb grooves. I think I only made two or three that way. Those are different! Thanks for posting the pics.

Ray, both HWK's have thumb grooves. I actuly like that on both, so I am glad me and the guy who ordered them have the same taste. I have been out all day playing with them, they just fit my hand well.

Spooky, I could send you one to play with if you like, then you could take the question mark away and order some fine steel from Ray.

J Williams, what did you order from Ray as your b day blade? BTW, Happy birth day brother. You are treating yourself well for your b day. Didnt you get a knife from NWA not long ago? You spoil yourself I think, good for you.

That's very generous of you! For better or worse (worse if my wife finds out), I've got like four new customs this month, so my plate it a bit full. I'll enjoy vicariously through your use photos though!

Spooky, keep it in mind, my offer still stands. You have had a few different NWA blades, do you have favorite. I want one, just cant make up my mind of which one. I have blades of all sizes that I need already. This buy will be a want, not need kind of thing. I am going through a 6" and under faze. I used to be into large choppers, but they dont get used that much by me, and I mostly do my batoning with a Ontario 12" machete now.

Thanks much! I'll remember that. The 4" Sierra Scout was really sweet, I can definitely recommend it. He also has a neat bushcraft design, but the handle looks a little small for my paws (not for all, of course). The 5" version would be pretty rad too, of course.
