Well...I wasn't expecting it to arrive today, but I go a really pleasant surprise in my mailbox. This one is my first Fiddleback with a tapered tang, but after handling it for a while today I sure don't plan on it being the last. I only had about an hour of light left when I got it so only a few preliminary photos for now. Man I love everything about this knife! I love the way it looks, I love the way it feels, and I love the way it handles.

WOW! Looks like a different kinfe then the ad!

Great pics. That wood looks stunning in that light.

Thanks man, yeah this is my first experience with the blood wood, and it really came alive in the last rays of sun light.

Yeah, no offense to Andy, he's a heck of a knife maker, but his photos never really do his knives justice. If I lived closer I'd try to work out a deal where I stopped by once a week for a discount on knives :)

Gorgeous shots!! The tapered tang always surprises me at how much it impacts how the knife feels in the hand. That is a gorgeous knife and I hope you enjoy it as much as you anticipated it. Looking forward to more pictures.

Thanks man, yeah this is my first experience with the African blood wood, and it really came alive in the last rays of sun light.

I think you're confusing the cadence of African Blackwood with Bloodwood, which is from South America IIRC. I would drop the African and just call it Bloodwood.

This is a true statement. My camera is a point and shoot camera, and we have the worlds crappiest lightbox setup. I really despise it.

Well done Mistwalker! Those photos are fantastic! I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on how she handles. Andy's work is absolutely superb!

Yes very, and very much worth the years of waiting for it to pop up :)

Well...it was made in Georgia ;)

Yeah, I have a friend here who tapers almost all of his tangs, so I had some idea how it would feel. Now I'm wanting one or two of the larger models with tapered tang as well. Maybe a Recluse in the mix somewhere only time will tell. Sometimes you're just sure you want one thing and then Andy's throws out something totally not thought of that you just can't resist and it becomes "the one" you were waiting on :)

Sorry, my bad. 'tis dropped :)

Thanks Mark, I'm glad you enjoyed then! Oh that will happen soon enough my friend :)

Did you get a sheath for this one yet? I'm contemplating ways to carry mine and looking for some inspiration. I saw a really nice pocket/belt sheath by Rick Lowe that is very tempting. Given how relatively small this knife is, I'm wondering if a cross draw belt sheath might be nice and out of the way. I might also be convinced to go ahead and give neck carry a try too.

I've a cross draw sheath for my Bushboot. Will post pix later. Mr Lowe did wonderful work and it is my favorite way to carry this knife

Rick is making me a pocket sheath for my left front pocket for this knife. Really looking forward to it too!

Rick makes a real nice cross draw Sheath, he made me one a few months ago and will be making me another shortly. I started using cross draw about a year ago and almost never use anything else now. Assuming the blade is around 4" or less.

Very nice looking knife! How does it compare to your hiking buddy?

Yeah, it's sweet for sure! Well, having a tapered tang and a handle with different furniture, it is lighter. The curved profile works better for my wrist in carving and in cutting steak, and being a high convex grind rather than a scandi grind it slices cheese a whole lot better. That's about as far as I have gotten with it so for :)

I was actually trying to picture a Camp Knife in a cross draw sheath on my back. I like that idea.
