Well I just got back from the SOS show and it was a great time. I met up with forumite Pistol Pete(great guy) and was inside the doors a little after 3. Crowds were decent for a Friday. This show had a little bit of something for everyone. Lots of ABS guys, tacs were well represented as were factory slipjoints. Some of the knives that impressed me were by Jerry Fisk, Joe Flournoy, Dickie Robinson, Brad Duncan, JL Williams and several more I can't think of at the moment. Chatting with Les Robertson was great. Les was educational and entertaining as always. There were several collector exhibits. The ones that stood out to me were the GW Stone and Scagel tables. I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the gentleman with the set of Scagel knives but he was a pleasure to talk with. Thank you for showing these knives to the public. He also had a Scagel persian fighter that I was really impressed with. I had never seen anyting like it from him.

I was planning to take a bunch of pics but totally forgot about them when I got to fondling knives and meeting the makers and collectors. I did manage to take a few though.

Ivory and damascus fighter by Jerry Fisk. Very Nice. The picture does not come even close to doing this knife justice.

This is a small bowie/fighter from ABS MS Dickie Robinson. 1084 and desert ironwood. After Kenny Rowe makes the sheath, its on the way to my house. :D

Mr. Robinson put on a forging demo at the show despite the drizzly weather.

I had not heard that Dickie passed his MS test this year. He really makes some beauties, doesn't he?

Jerry's knife is stunning, as always.

And the write up too! Edna and I really wanted to make it to this show, but with Blade West being within driving distance next weekend, well, you know the story...

Damn, sweet score on the Robinson fighter, that's a very cool knife! :D

Say, how were the Randall's, did ya see many? (I just love the pain...lol)

Thanks again,

Mel

By the time I got over to where the majority of Randall's would have been most of the dealers were covering their tables and getting ready to leave. There was one dealer with several glass cases of Randalls in their sheaths. I didn't get a chance to check them out though.

Thanks for the pics and report. I saw that Fisk damascus fighter posted on Jerry's site and so wish I could have seen that beauty in person. Congrats on the Dickie Robinson bowie fighter - I like his stuff a lot.

Cheers,

Roger

Since I am not there this year, this is the next to the best thing. Sometimes we take being among our friends for granted until times like these that make you really miss them. Thanks a lot for the pics and all the info on the show. It is really hard to stay home.
Do I start to sound like a knife junkie :). Good.
I appreciate the effort in posting and taking all the pictures and you did a very good job. Thanks
Dickie was looking good. :)

The guy in the corner on the forging demo pic! It was a great show. Tons of cool stuff.

Samhell,
As the guy displaying the Scagel set and the other Scagel blades at the SOS show, I'd like to say it was a pleasure speaking with you as well! My son and I really enjoyed the Spirit of Steel show this year. I especially appreciate Mr.Bruce Voyles assigning me a table in an area where there was outstanding lighting! Those 6 matched Scagel knives and their beautiful leather case looked SO good under that lighting that I just couldn't stop admiring them! A great many wonderful people stopped by the table to chat and spend a little time with those old knives. And it was great to meet others whose posts I have enjoyed on this and other forums. So, you liked the double-edge curved blade Scagel? You're not alone! Here's a picture I hope you will enjoy:
