Posting a few pics from yesterday and today's morning walks. The cold snap this past week has kept sub-freezing temperatures occurring at night and this is stalling the plant growth. Even the peepers are quiet now, a distinct departure from last weekend when I did the overnighter. Hoping nature decides to wake up pretty soon because I'm getting tired of the brown drab and ready for some lush green.

My usual little hanging around spot is all swamped out at the moment.

I was impressed at this large cottonwood trunk that split on the impact from its fall. I was standing on this log while taking a shot of it.

Some beta romping shots. She's 12 years old now and still likes to hustle when in the open.

Despite the frozen surface, she's still a lab so when she finds water, she has to lay in it.

I thought this might be a good source of well cured punkwood, but it was all wet.

Knife porn, didn't really use it today, but I grabbed the old standby, the B. Andrews bushy.

Thats about it. Heard a bunch of coyote's yelping and howling. Beta didn't even seem to notice them. They were pretty close this time, but not close enough for any kind of concern.

Hope everyone else is getting out on this weekend, because its pretty quite around this place!

Looks like a good time. Am so ready for the nicer weather to come rolling in. I love the winter time, but am ready for the warmth.

Great pics KGD! I am very patiently awaiting Spring also.

Good news today, I saw my first Garter snake poke his head of his winter home, however he decided that it wasn't quite warm enough and went back in after about 3 minutes..

Nice, haven't seen any snakes this year yet!

Wow, you had better weather than I did down here in the St Louis, MO area... 5.5 inches of snow yesterday.

That would just be depressing right now! I've got a trip planned up north in 3 weeks. Been keeping my eyes on a local web cam at the city hall in the nearest town. Watching this big snow bank sort of melt down, but it has just been static the last week. Frustrating, because if the water is cresting owing to snow melt when I go for my trip I will likely have to cancel. Well, what can you do!

Patiently awaiting spring, now. The past few cold days haven't really helped any, but it should be warming up here pretty soon.

how far up north you planning on going?
almost no snow where i am, but i hear they are still snowmobiling huntsville/ parrysound way

It snowed again here a couple days ago, highs have been in the 30s at best. Spring is still a while away here. Once we hit mid April things will be on the warming path for sure. March is always horribly confused here.

That pup is looking pretty peppy.
