a few questions about fehrman knives

hey guys, i've been taking a serious look at fehrman knives. everything i have seen and read about them is really impressive.

question 1:
=======

i was reading some of the testimonials on the fehrman site, and someone said that even with fairly heavy use, the blade basically didn't show any scratches. i'm assuming this was the satin-finished blade.

can anyone verify the blade's high level of scratch resistance?

question 2:
=======

what is the stain resistance of their satin blade like? one of the reasons i've been shying away from the bark river knives is because their blades seem to readily stain. i know the fehrmans are not stainless steel, so i was wondering just how readily they stain.

question 3:
=======

does anyone know what kind of grind they use on their knives. i was particulary interested in their "last chance" model.

question 4:
=======

i noticed that they line their leather sheaths with kydex. does anyone think there will be any issues with the kydex insert scratching the blade?

question 5:
=======

do you think the "last chance" would be good for skinning and boning big game animals?

thanks for reading through all my questions. i'm looking forward to your input!

Jeff,

I own a satin Last Chance model. It is a great knife. I have by no means abused my knife but it still looks new. I don't think a kydex sheath would scratch it. I have a very nice leather Paul Long sheath for mine though...:thumbup:
I think it would be fine for BIG game skinning. You will still need a smaller knife for the smaller work though. It seems to me to be more of a camp knife than a hunting knife. I also do believe you need to have large to xl hands to hold the knife comfortably. It is the only knife I own that my wife thinks is to large for her to hold comfortably.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Ferman. I did a lot of research before buying mine and I am very pleased. :thumbup:
