I read Benchmade Warranty policy and if I’m understanding correctly unless your original owner and knife was purchased from an authorized dealer,it’s not covered
by benchmade.
I see many people selling used knives,NIB mint, but since they aren’t covered what can I do if it needs warranty services?

Also let’s say I buy knife from authorized dealer and I thin blade a bit for better slicing and I snap blade, will benchmade sell me another?
One last question, can I get new scales for Osborne 940 from benchmade?

I've had no problem sending in used Benchmade. As long as it's authentic you shouldn't have a trouble with warranty. Modification may complicated things, though. But yeah, you might not know for sure on some things unless you send it in. Also, you could get a difference answer between BM employees on some questions and simply asking a question and then actually sending it in could potential result in different outcomes.

Get a lawyer.

Really, email them or call during normal business hours in Oregon with these concerns for a legitimate answer. I've seen them replace knives that were the result of obvious abuse without documentation and seen them argue over a poorly ground primary bevel and continue to maintain the knife met spec.

As it should be, warranty issues should be evaluated on an individual basis. A blanket warranty like some have claiming to replace the knife no matter what, no questions asked can become very costly and encourages people to abuse their tools. Even though a micrometer has a warranty you don't see people using them as prybars and hammers, a folding knife is also a precision tool that should not be abused and should always be properly maintained .

For some reason the amount of abuse heaped on knives is inversely proportional to the number of words used in the warranty. ;)
