A few quick Q's regarding the ZT 0200

Well, after a recent review of the ZT 0200 here on Blade Forums, I've decided I want this knife to be my next purchase.
Review Here
Before I get it though, I have a couple of quick questions.

1. I reside in Canada, so I try whenever possible to order within Canada. The picture of the 0200 on the website I wish to order from shows the knife with a slanted thumbstud and no Gimping on the spine of the knife right near the handle. The recent review on the forums however, showed gimping and a domed thumbstud. The knife on Kershaw's website also shows no Gimping and a slanted stud. So, when did Kershaw go from the Ramp and no Gimping to a domed stud and Gimping? I'd like to know becasue if it was quite a while ago, then there is less chance the dealer has old stock and is just displaying the old picture that is on the ZT website.

2. Did the blade steel ever change in the knife, or has it always been 154cm?

3. I would really love to know the actual thickness of the liners. Are they both the same thickness, or is the liner-lock liner thicker? An exact measurement would be nice, but and estimate is fine as well, I just want an idea.

4. What's the actual blade length? I've heard a few different ones for some reason, not sure what to believe.

Thanks in advance you guys for the help! It's appreciated.
Regards,
Eric

i can answer number 2 for you. to the best of my knowledge it has always been 154cm.

if i had to guess i would say the liner is around an 1/8 of an inch. i dunno, i stink at guessing thicknesses. the blade according to kershaw's site is 3 7/8 inches. that is prolly what it is, casue the knife isnt small by any means. good luck!

Thanks Offsetlover, that helps

Does anyone have any ideas for the first question?

1. Mine is marked "Sep 06." It has jimping on the thumb-ramp and fat dual thumbstuds that are not slanted or domed, they are scallopped - like a ziggurat or the red hats Devo used to wear.

2. mine is 154CM, I think they always have been?

3. both lines appear to be 2mm thick, which = .08" or just under 1/12". Plenty thick, slightly thicker than the JYD2 liners, and those are nice & thick!

4. blade length measures a hair under 3.75" from the longest part of the handle, behind the thumbstud, to the tip. Looks to be about 4.125" from the flipper to the tip when open.

Hope that helps!

Oh, and the knife is freaking awesome, there's no way you could be disappointed, it's bomb-proof and a great design and fits the hand like a glove. If you're ok with carrying a bigger bulkier folder, I don't think you can go wrong with this baby.

Fishface5, thanks a million!
I couldn't have asked for more detailed answers!
I'm definitely ordering this knife soon, and I'll try to post some pics as soon as it comes in.

Thanks again for everyones help!

Regards,
Eric

To answer question # 1: The picture on the website was of the very first prototype.
All of the knives that have been produced to date have not had a stud that is angled and the blade steel has always been 154CM.

Have fun with it!!

Could someone post a photo of their 0200 next to the JYD2? I just got the JYD2 and am very happy with it and I've been eying the 0200 for a while.

here's a couple of crappy phone pics - I customized my JYD2 by adding a choil and removing the thumb ramp on the handle - the ZT200 is quite a bit thicker & more hand-filling with its contoured handles, in contrast to the JYD2's flat scales. So the JYD2 is more "pocket-friendly" but you could take apart a car with the ZT200.

Thanks for the photos. I might mod my JYD2 like that too sometime soon. I like the extra handle space at the butt of the 0200 and its better looking cutting edge to handle ratio. Might have to pick one up sometime in the future.
