I thought I'd post a few photos of the Shank while it is still pristine. I think I want a basket-weave sheath for this one in this same color.

Mist,
She's absolutely beautiful -- a perfect old-school/new-school look, with outstanding burl to boot (look at those eyes & swirls)! Enjoy it & looking forward to seeing some more pics soon!

That sure is a pretty one. I'm really starting to think Andy needs to pay you a "finder's fee" or something. Every time I tell myself, "Eh, that model's not for me," you post some pictures of one and the little hamster wheel starts turning in my head, trying to figure out a use (= excuse) for one in my life.

That's what I said when I opened the package. It's perfect, and I love this black ash burl!

Awesome burl! Love the liner color. It really pops.

They do go really well together I think. I too love the way it pops.

Until recently I had totally missed the Shank for what it could be for me. With the micartas and G10s which usually work out best for me in the woods, and many being dagger ground (which I actually love but could not carry here) it seemed just a little bit too "tactical" for me in some ways, as Andy has been my avenue of escape from all thoughts of modern tactical for the last six years. But then I saw the box elder one that Willic snagged, and just really loved what I saw as looking sort of 15th century tactical/utilitarian and fell in love. I love to cook, so I know what this one will be doing a lot of. If I were still cooking professionally I would now order a synthetic handled one for work, but since I just cook at home I am totally happy with this one. I think the black ash burl is just gorgeous, and it is amazingly light in the hand being tapered 1/8.

Man, I wish I knew how to take really good knife pictures. BUT, mine are remedial for sure.

Those are excellent Mist. I think the burl really pops.

Thanks bro,I once wanted to know how to make knives. So, I talked to close friends who mentored me, talked to several makers like yourself, Rick, Wally, Ryan, & John...then I bought steel, and handle materials. Ryan and John turned me loose in their shops, and the sparks flew. I spent hours drawing, grinding, and dipping with different steels. Even came out of it with a couple of blanks I was happy with. Never even made it to the handles before I realized there are reasons why artists gravitate to different media for their creative outlets. Knife making is not for everyone, and everyone sure isn't good at it :) I have been carrying and using knives for forty-two years, and cameras for thirty-eight. I think I'll stick with using and photographing, and the occasional design, and leave the making to you guys. I sure love using and photographing your knives :)

Nice burl man. How thick is the blade?

The burl is gorgeous. I wanted a lighter colored, but featured handle, and I couldn't be happier! This one is tapered 1/8 O-1, very quick and light. Going to roast a leg of lamb soon, so I can use the leftovers in a shepherd's pie :D

That thing is uglier than poop on a soda-cracker - so you should give it to me and rid yourself of the taxing nature from owning something so hideous. It will match my other poop cracker handled Fiddlers. I'll PM my shipping address.

PS: Next photoshoot, use it to illustrate how one could clean their nails. :D

LOL, yeah yeah. The only thing I'll be sending your way soon is an order for a basket weave sheath for it :D will need to be narrower than the Bushcrafter sheath is, It's thinner and a little too loose in this one..

Wow man that black ash burl is simply devine!

Yeah, it came out really sweet!

Yeah, I have a shank here. I'll put something together for it when the orders get caught up.

Sweet! I hope your's isn't one of those 3/16 ones  There was a time when 3/16 with a dagger grind would have been just what the doctor ordered  But these days I'm getting too old for that sort of thing anymore :o . I'll probably put in the order tomorrow or Tuesday, and then you can get to it whenever you have time, it will mostly be hanging out in the kitchen for now anyway :)

yeah, so that's fantastic.
mmmm...
