A Few Shelters From a Recent Hiking Trip(video)

Good looking shelter, forgive my ignorance but is it designed to keep rain off or just to keep you warm and out the wind?

I'm looking to build a similar shelter next time i'm out but the problem here is everything is damp. Rain nearly every other day means my priority is keeping dry.

A well built shelter will do both. This one could have used more debris but I felt good with how it was and only wanted it for one night. Temps were expected to be tolerable and no rain was forecasted. I also had a goretex bivy so for me it was more about warmth. Bindlestitch and IA Woodsman helped me build it, total time was maybe an hour and a half? I'd carve out a good 2-3 hours if you are by yourself depending on weather, daylight, and available materials.
