Just took a short hike today and came across these wild edibles.

Thimble berries:



Some type of Wild Plum but not ripe yet:



Huckleberries, there wasn't many berries and I'd eaten them before thinking of taking a pic...Oops !

Nice post Pit. Those thimble berries look bigger than the name implies, is that just an optical affect? It may just seem that way because the leaves remind me of leaves on another plant here that are quite large.

I'd say there is probably a similar amount of flesh as there is on a raspberry or average Blackberry. Great tasting though, In my opinion the tastiest of all the berries !
 
Invasive wine berries (raspberry family) beats native red raspberries for taste by a long shot however native black cap raspberries are a bit-o-heaven in every bite. Naturally everything I said is IMHO.
 
good stuff! we had a really cold winter so only now am i seeing some of the berries coming out.
