Here is one I just finished up. It is forged 5160 with stainless guard and pin. Handle is a really nice piece of redwood burl stabilized by WSSI. False edge not sharp. I still need to make a sheath which always seems to take me forever.
Here are the specs:
Steel: 5160
Handle: Redwood burl
Guard/Pin: Stainless
OAL: 12 1/4"
Blade Length: 6 7/8" Tip to guard
Blade Width: 7/32" at the ricasso with a distal taper

Let me know what you think good or bad. I am always up for criticism. Thanks for looking.

That redwood is really nice and you positioned it just right. Like the rest as well.

You might want to correct the steel type in your specs.

Beautiful Knife!
The clean lines and cool handle give it a real classy look IMO.
I like it a lot. Thanks for posting the photos. We'll be looking forward to your next one.

If you follow the veins of the redwood upwards...it looks like growing trees on the handle. Very nice placement of the wood, I agree w/ Dan.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have some more really nice redwood that is waiting for the right project. Again, thanks.

The figure on the handle is incredible. It's almost like flames or maybe tendrils of smoke rising toward the blade. The understated design for the rest just makes it stand out even more.

I got the sheath finished, so I figured I should add some pics. The inlay is western diamondback from a snake I killed in my shop. Thanks for looking.

Some guys have all the luck. Even the snakes come to his shop to donate their personal skins!

Yeah, I felt real lucky when I looked down and it was looking up at me, that is the first thing that popped into my head, "Hey, I'm lucky".

Thanks for all the comments.

Wow, that handle is great. The figure in the wood, really, I thought it was a carved tree at first glance. It was not till I stopped and looked closer I realized that is the natural figure in the wood.

Stellar!

i can usually find fly poop in pepper. Not here. If you want to send it to me i'll give a closer review? Na, i'd probably get in trouble in nyc with it.
