We took pics of this last build so I thought we would post them..Shows just how much really goes into making this type of hatchet..
Start off with a 1" x 1 1/2" bar of mild steel..

First thing to do is make the eye..Here are the tools we use..A hand held hot slitter and a hammer.

I would really like to make one of these but doing it by hand and by myself keeps me from doing it. I think one of the wrap arounds would a tad easier to do without a power hammer.

Looks great, still love the one I got from you guys.

Awesome to see what hard work goes into these...I can't wait to get mine as well!

Thanks for taking the time to post the work in progress. Very nice looking hatchet. I always like seeing shops/tools.

this post made my day... as a fellow pervert.

really great thread as well, awesome hatchet and pics.

Amazing to see the process in detail, thank you for sharing. There really is a lot of skill and know-how that goes into something like this. Hats off to you!

Thanks you all very much for the kind words..I cant take all the credit..Phillip is the one who did all the research/trial and error on axe construction methods..Then of course he taught me what I know and still helps me all the time..
