Uncle Bill and my fellow forumites.

As Uncle Bill knows I spend a lot of time working with a local youth group, doing outdoors education.

I recent days the mother of one of the kids (I have become good friends with both mother and daughter over the last few years) has been diagnosed with cancer.

I have been doing what I can to help out, but I would like something a little special.

Knowing what a diverse group we have hanging around here I would like to request the following:

As my friend is a teacher of linguistics and anthropology (as I understand it she has even had a few exchange students from Nepal through her classes) I am trying to put together a series of 'get well' wishes or prayers from around the world.

If anyone here knows any could you either post them or email me at simpson@funnelwebinternet.com.au

If possible I would like to get them in their original language and then an english translation.

Any help (or other suggestions) would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Andre

P.S. Any words of wisdom to help the daughter get through this would be a help as well.

Andre, I'll certainly try to help, though my resources are limited. And you are to be commended for being such a good friend to this person -- that in itself is quite a blessing.

Here at the Cantina we are Buddhists and almost every night we have a puja which involves prayer and rituals at the altar. One of the things we do is special puja for people who ask for it. Tonight we will do one for the cancer victim.

Remember everything is karma!

Your effort will not go unnoticed, Andre.

Thanks guys.

Bill; I don't know about karma, but they are my friends, its what I should do. To me its as simple as that.

There is nothing that the human spirit cant overcome.Just keep your faith strong and your heart full of love and anything is possible.

Ash, here is a verse from Psalms (130:5) in Scottish Gaelic:

Tha mi a' feitheamh air an Tighearna, tha m'anam a' feitheamh, agus 'n
a fhacal tha mo dhòigh.

"I am waiting on the Lord, my soul is waiting and in His word is my
hope."

Please pass on our best wishes. My wife's sister passed away in our home exactly one month ago and we are full of sorrow at her passing. But we are also full of the joy which faith brings, that one day we will be reuinited. Whisper "courage!" to your friend and be steadfast. This won't be easy but you can rise to the challenge on her behalf. If you email me with her name my wife and I will add her to our prayers as well.

You are a good friend to do this!

Stephen
