I don't make many full tang knives. But sometimes I just want to do something different. This one I forged of O1 steel.

I used Micarta scales and some stainless for the bolsters. The cutting edge is 3-1/2 inches and the OAL is 8 inches. Tang is tapered and lightened.

I really like it Lin.
That forging is as close to finish dimensions as one could get. Those red liners look great with the handle material.

Hope to see you at the Blade Show.

That is sharp lookin, I love it! The overall profile and proportions along with the way you shaped and filed those bolsters just hits me right in every way.. Beautifully done :)

I make a few in that style, and was thinking about one for my JS test group. The rest will be regular guards.

damn fine package all around... love the little hint of red in the liners. i believe it was Loveless who said "it is like the right shade of lipstick on a pretty girl" (don't give me a hard time, I read that years ago) but that is a really nice piece with great lines.

Double check the rules. If I remember correctly, you might need to do an integral. I thought bolsters weren't in the spec. I haven't looked in over a year though.

Willie71, I copied and pasted the rule change below. Integral or applied bolsters are acceptable.

Notices of JS Testing Rule Changes

"Effective immediately, applicants for the JS stamp must have a minimum of two knives among the five submitted with at least 6 inch blades, and all of the knives submitted must have guards/bolsters."
