Hello,
A proud (but quiet) RAT user/outdoors lover here....
Just wanted to pass along a link:
http://video.nytimes.com/video/2009...322337/surviving-the-death-race.html?emc=eta1
It's a video of a race series in VT that is pretty tough, to say the least!
I compete in triathlons, marathons, and other endurance events, and I can definitely tell you that after 5 hours, your brain stops working! The simple challenges like memorizing president's names, creating lego pieces, and putting a chain on a bike are much, much more difficult after you're physically exhausted.
I know this doesn't have too much to do with tangible survival skills like how to set up a trap or start a fire without matches, but the "never give in" attitude is certainly important...
The video is ten minutes long, but you can get the gist after a few minutes. I have a couple friends who have done similar styled races and agree, it's crazy.
Enjoy!
