I saw one of these tl-29 conversions that Glenbad did, and was inspired to give it a try. When I purchased a pal stockman last week, this Mklein and sons tl-29 was included. It was hideous, and there was no way I was going to use it, and with the combined price of the pal and the tl-29 being about 8 bucks, I figured, even if I wreck it, I didn't lose anything. Also, I have sheep horns lying around, that it seems I can't even give away, so, with a bit of extra time on my hands this morning, here is what I came up with.

Thanks!
This is the disassembled knife.

I know it's not as good as the fantastic work I've seen here, but it was fun, and not as hard as I thought it would be. The next one will come out better, probably.

Glad I could inspire you. If this is your first one, then you are doing quite well, IMO. Can't wait to see what's next!

Always fun to tinker. Looks like you did great. And you're right. The second one will be even better. Be careful - you might just get addicted!

Yes, this is the first time I've done anything like this. I've made a few fixed blades from files, but this is very different.
I added a swedge.

Hey, great work, looks really good

Thanks for the kind words, folks. I tried again. This was an MKlein hawk bill. It belonged to my wife's grandpa. It had been run over, I think. Man, this is fun to do.
