I've searched for quite a while tryin' to see if anyone has posted anything like this before, to no avail, so at this point I'm takin' credit for it. I'm sure a lot of folks have heard of the knute hitch. It's one of the oldest knots specifically for tyin' a lanyard to a knife. However, with a minor modification, it makes a dandy moveable, chopper lanyard. This moveability is multiplied with the talon holes & tube fasteners on our Busse's. The only difference in mine & the one shown is I use boatswain whistle knots for my stopper knots instead of the plain ol' knot shown.
First up is a diagram of a knute hitch.

Next is it actually tied on a Sar6.

Here's where my lanyard differs.

I add a second stopper knot to the trailing end & pull the trailing end back against the knot to form a loop. It's rediculously simple & can be removed from the knife or moved to any hole you choose.

Edited to add: If someone finds this anywhere else by someone else, please let me know, because up to this point, I'm callin' it a Bowman hitch.
