I was at a gun & knife this past weekend and saw a couple of knives made by A.G. Russel. It is a replica of a knife that was designed by my all time favorite gun writer, Elmer Keith. The only exeption is the handle material is stag instead of ivory. The merchant had two of them with tan leather sheaths, asking price was $650.00 each. Even though I'll never own one, I would like to know about them. How many were made? What are the specs. on them (blade steel, size etc.)? It amazeed me how much the blade is shaped like the Ka-Bar Warthog, except it looked to be bigger. Thanks, for any info. RKBA!

Two Ls please. The knife was designed by Elmer much improved by Harvey Draper. Both had died and we did the knife as a tribute to both of them, made 100, they were done by Lloyd Hale, my head knifemaker, at that time. The steel was probably 440C, which was the steel used by Harvey. I sure would appreciate it if you would say that the Warthog blade was shaped like that knife instead of the other way around.

The price asked for those knives, given proper condition was a really good price, we would probably want $1,000 each for them if we had them to sell. Thanks for reminding me, I had not thought about those knives in many years. A. G. (RusselL)

Thank you Mr. Russell. I apoligize for the way I worded the Warthog part, indeed, I think Ka-bar studied that knife. A great idea I might add! I want to think you personally, for honering our fallen Vets at the front of your catalogue. I have purchased a knife or two from A.G. Russell, and you guys are first class! RKBA! P.S. also I'm sorry I missspelled your name, got in to big a hurry!
