Several members have been looking for a review of this knife, and I finally acquired one. This is a nice gentleman's knife, and is even great for EDC. It's the Agent's Office Knife by A. G. Russell. Made in China and selling for around $125, it's a looker. It weighs 2.9 ounces. Check it out...

The Handle: The Agent's Office Knife (which I'll refer to from now on as the Agent's knife) is 3-3/4" long and 3/8" thick. Here it is next to a Kabar Dozier for thickness comparison...

The liners, bolsters, and end caps are 416 stainless steel with a high polish. The handle scales are jigged stag antler, and are very nicely done. The catalog description says there's faux engraving on the bolsters and end caps, but they feel like they're really engraved - not just painted on. They look great.

The butt also has a brown leather lanyard attached.

The Agent's knife is comfortable in use, mostly serving to open letters and those other "dress knife" tasks. Lock-up is solid, and it uses a lockback positioned near the butt. There is no blade play in any direction. The jigged handle scales are held in place with three pins; actually two handle pins and one to serve as the lockbar pin.

Flanked by a Boker Subcom and Kabar Dozier for size reference...

The Blade: The Agent's knife has a blade of ATS-34 at 59-61 on the Rockwell scale, and is a spear point. It's ground on both the front and back, but is sharpened only on the front (where the edge usually is).

The blade is 3-1/16" long with a 2-3/4" cutting edge, and is 1/8" thick. The blade is marked as in the photos in lasering; A. G. Russell over China on the left side tang and ATS-34 on the right side tang.
Opening is accomplished with dual thumb studs, and opening is very smooth.

The blade came sharp out of the box, but not as sharp as I'd like. It took a few minutes on a sandpaper piece and strop before it would shave hair. Now it's great

The Sheath: The Agent's knife comes with a nice brown leather pouch, just like a William Henry (Mr. Russel uses the Clip Case-style sheath with permission). For those of you unfamiliar, it's a leather pouch, open at the top, with a belt clip mounted on the back. Construction is great. The leather is firm, yet supple. The clip is polished stainless steel, and carries the knife in a "gentlemanly" manner.

Overall, I think the Agent's Office Knife is great. I'm not sure how often I'll use it because I don't get fancy too often, but I guarantee it will be the knife I carry when I do.

Might I suggest Max as his main name.
Manix would make a kickass nickname.

Re: JNieporte

Very nice review. Not quite my style, but won't deny your review made me give a second glance... or a third.

I've posted photos of Delica previously on here, and every time I get asked "Did you really name your daughter Delica?"

I like the name, and I think it fits her. Delica, as in delicate (her feelings get hurt very easily and she's not open to criticism) yet not overtly obvious (she'll go out with me and eat bugs and loves knives).

I wish they would have a version with a double grind. I know it's not legal in some places but that never stopped A.G.Russell from selling other knives with a double grind.

I would buy it if it was double ground, sharpened on both sides. I couldn't see buying a knife that looks like that, but isn't sharpened on both sides.

I think they deeply jig the bone in a stag pattern, then smooth it down to fit the handle. Originally, they were made with India stag, and had a price tag of about $150. Those ones will be collectibles.

Nice review, and great pics. I handled one at A. G.'s shop a couple weekends ago, and it's definitely at the top of my list. Quality is way up there, and the knife is worth every penny, and then some.

I've gotten used to much larger knives, but find myself still wanting the smaller ones. I liked A. G.'s new 2.5 titanium lockbacks with fancy handle scales, too.
