Here is a copy of the post I made on A.G. Russell forum at Knifeforum.com . Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks! Dave
Hello everyone! I have been considering purchasing the Japan made model for quite some time. Are there any owners who woud be kind enough to give me some feedback on their likes/dis on this model?
For many years, I carried a burgundy micarta Gerber LST.IMHO, it is the perfect size, weight and contour(rounded handles) for my tastes. I actually own both models of the old LST; the other model being the white paper micarta version. I never was attracted to the newer version LST with the zytel construction. What I was hoping for was a version of the old LST with a higher grade blade steel. Unfortunately , a new version was never conceived. It appears to me that the Brute is very close in size and shape to the old LST except that the contour on part of the handle has a "sharp" profile. I personally prefer complete rounded contours on my knives for comfort in the hand and the pocket. It seems that most manufacturers prefer to design them with angled contours for aesthetic reasons. My EDC knives are rotated between my Boye and a Spyderco Calpso Jr. in black micarta.
Now after my long winded verse are my questions:
- Is the Brute close to the LST in dimensions(including handle thickness?
- Is the lockup tight in all directions?
- Is the knife made by Moki in Japan?
-Is the action buttery smooth?
-Is it easily opened with one hand?
Thanks to all for any feedback! Dave
