Just recieved there on line sales special and he is offering once again the Combat Special. Have always wanted one and the price seems decent. Sandvick steel, zytel handles, slight rec. to the blade. 7.5"x1.75" wide, nice leather sheath etc. etc. Anyone have one of these. I believe it is a Blackie Collins design originally. 3/16" thick and even a a hideaway space in the handle for fishing line, hooks, and smaller survival stuff. Truth is I will probably not use it as such but have always like this design. Anyways any input is appreciated. Keep'em sharp.

I got one a couple of years ago, mostly because the blade shape caught my eye and because of the relatively low price. The blade is nice, cool shape and ok finish, but the edgebevel on me specimen was very, very uneven.

The Zytel handle is very wide because of the concealed compartment, so unless you have huge hands it will not feel comfortable in use. I am in the process of putting on a new handle and when I took off the original one, I found that most of the full tang has been cut out to give room for the compartment. So much material has been cut away that I think it compromises the strength of the knife.

All in all I think you can do much better for the money. I would rather go with Ontario or CS SRK or Bush Ranger for a midsize/large combat-utility style blade.
