I always liked the wharncliffe blades, not only for their smooth curves and nice look, but also because of the cutting efficiency. A while back I noticed the A.G. Russel Curved Regular Jack, so I decided to make it a try

Its’ easy to notice the good level of fits and finish on this knife

The bone handles are well contoured and worked properly

The blade is shaped lovely, and razor sharp

I also like the steel used for this folder, Sandvik 12C27 is good enough for me

Blade deadly centered, something that I like a lot in a folder

All this is to be expected and somehow normal in a slip joint made in USA (or in Italy i.e.), but the surprise is that this knife is made in China

I like the size of this knife, very pocketable but big enough to be used in a daily base

In summary, a good, well made slip joint. That said, for some reasons, he didn’t give me the same warm feeling of the GEC folders I own: knives’ mystery

As a side note, hope you do like the leather strap I handmade for my Seiko Samurai White :)

Ciao,
Alfredo

Wow that's incredible Alfredo, very elegant and clearly well-made knife.

Like your watch strap too! :)

I bought the same knife with the white bone scales. It looked very elegant when it came and had the same fit and finish as you show. Unbelievable for a factory made knife. And I love the steel as it will razor up nicely and hold the edge well.

My only nit was that the bone was so white and flawless that it almost looked synthetic. Just a small nit... the fit and polish were great.

But now I have a bonus that makes me like the knife even more. The enormous amount of sweat and dirt I generate has started to work on the white bone. It is starting to get some gold coloring in some areas, some darker shading with a few streaks of color, and is really starting to take on some character. It looks great and seems to be getting better.

Love that knife. This is one of the few wharncliffes I have seen that are actually thick bladed enough to be useful for some work. The main body of the blade may be a bit obtuse for some, but the grinds and swedges take the point down nicely to a more traditional, thin point.

Yup, it's a very nice little wharncliffe. It's the knife that turned me on to wharncliffe knives.

Been wanting one of those, been dropping the hint to my wife,so may be for Christmas.Nice to hear good reviews but having seen A.G.'s knives before it's no surprise.
Really nice Alfredo, and nice watch band also.

I have some of AGR's other knives and this one is on my list to pick up next, for all the same reasons. Love that fit and finish on his knives!

Great review Alfredo!

The AGR jack is sweet, I was very impressed when I got mine.

I also love your Samurai, I wouldn't sell mine for the world.

I like the shape of the knife. The "butt-down" looks great in combination with the wharncliffe blade. The very other way with the "butt-up" to the swayback design. I like the swayback design much. The F&F is great, imo. 12C27 will make a good decision for such a knife.

Thanks for showing off, Alfredo :)

I like the knife a lot, and gave one away here last year. It's in good company with the BF 2021 knife.
